ABOUT
Reverend Marcietta Washington
Rev. Marcie has conquered the 3 C’s – Cancer, Cardiac Arrest, and COVID-19. Her life experiences, the ups and downs, are a testament to the love and power of God. Through these experiences, she's matured and become a more confident woman, knowing that she is indeed a preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ and there is ministry work for her to do.

An Irresistible Call to Christ
I was a 9-year-old little girl attending a tent revival one hot summer in Marianna, FL. My father had offered his vacant lot to the evangelist for his portable church. I can’t remember the sermons or songs I heard, but I know by the end of the week I felt something tug at my heart for me to give my life to Christ. Since that time, I cannot remember not knowing that I was supposed to tell others about Christ.

Mature in Faith
As a nerdy high schooler and a college basketball player, the one thing my friends and teammates could attest to is that I let them know that I was a Christian. I worked in the church as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, church musician, and wherever I thought I could help. I believe those experiences built my faith and confidence to hear from God about what He would have me to do. After graduating from college, I took my faith with me throughout my 34-year NASA engineering career and continued to work in the church.

Cancer Free
It was in 2012 when I felt “the call of God” to become a minister. After a few years of training, I was licensed to preach and became an ordained minister. But during that training period, in November 2014, I received the devastating diagnosis of multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow. After six months of chemotherapy, I suffered the severe side effect of a pulmonary embolism and cardiac arrest. My heart stopped for 22 minutes and doctors were prepared to call for the “time of death.” But God showed himself mighty. Years later, I am now cancer-free!
I am married to the love of my life, Larry Washington. We have three adult children, Talia, Tyreese, and Taurus; our son/nephew, Sean and his wife Ockeshia; and five grandchildren. My 94-year old mother, Deaconess Emeritus Erma Boyd Hines also resides with us.
